Smooth Operator is a DJI waypoint mission planner for macOS and iPhone. Rooster Labs does not use the app for advertising, analytics, or cross-app tracking, and the app does not create user accounts. This policy explains what data the app handles when you use local missions, optional iCloud sync, map display, current location, terrain lookups, wind lookups, and optional map overlays.
data stored on your device
Smooth Operator stores mission files, mission settings, waypoints, points of interest, and export files on your device when you create, import, edit, or export missions locally.
optional iCloud sync
If you choose to save a mission to the Mission Library, the app stores the mission name and mission content in your private iCloud account using CloudKit so you can access the mission on your other devices signed in to the same Apple Account. Rooster Labs does not use this data for advertising, analytics, or marketing.
location access
If you allow location access, Smooth Operator uses your current location only when you choose Center on Current Location to center the mission map around your position while planning flights. Your current location is not sent to Rooster Labs.
maps
Smooth Operator uses Apple MapKit for map display, which is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
dji geo overlay
If you turn on the DJI GEO overlay, Smooth Operator sends the visible map rectangle bounds, selected GEO zone levels, and DJI drone identifier to DJI FlySafe to request GEO zone geometry for the visible map area.
adsb.lol traffic
If you turn on ADSB.lol traffic, Smooth Operator sends the visible map rectangle bounds to ADSB.lol to request aircraft traffic for the visible map area.
above ground / terrain elevation
If you use Above Ground altitude planning, Smooth Operator may send waypoint coordinates to the USGS Elevation Point Query Service and, if needed, OpenTopoData to calculate terrain-relative altitude.
wind
If you use Wind planning, Smooth Operator sends the selected coordinates and optional forecast time to Open-Meteo to estimate surface and aloft wind conditions.
Smooth Operator does not send your mission name, saved mission files, waypoint list, point-of-interest list, altitude settings, actions, or account information to DJI or ADSB.lol for optional overlays.
overlay storage
DJI GEO and ADSB.lol overlays use ephemeral network sessions. Downloaded overlay data is cached in memory for the current app session only. Overlay on/off preferences and selected DJI GEO zone levels are stored locally on your device.
how data is used
Smooth Operator uses the data above only to provide app functionality: mission editing, mission sync you request, map display, optional overlay display, terrain-relative altitude calculations, and weather estimates.
retention and deletion
Local mission files remain on your device until you delete them. Missions saved to the Mission Library remain in your private iCloud account until you delete them from the library or remove the app's iCloud data from your Apple account.

KMZ import, editing, and export are performed by the app to support local mission planning and file export.
